REMONDIS Aqua takes over Eurawasser.

Lunen/Berlin. REMONDIS Aqua Group is pushing forward its expansion: today the company signed an agreement for the purchase of all shares in the Berlin-based Eurawasser Group. The acquisition must still be approved by the Federal Cartel Office. The financial closing of this takeover is expected to take place during the first quarter of 2012. The Eurawasser Group is one of the leading water management companies in Germany and provides, among others, water management services in Rostock, Schwerin, Cottbus, Goslar and in the Rheingau region. 

As a result of this acquisition, the internationally active REMONDIS Aqua Group, around 85% of whose activities are carried out in Turkey, Russia, India, Poland, Spain and other European countries, has succeeded in extending and sustainably strengthening its business in Germany in, among other fields, the area of water resources management. Andreas Bankamp, managing director of REMONDIS Aqua, believes that, from a strategic point of view, the purchase of Eurawasser is a clear signal showing the importance of private sector commitment in the German water sector. The Eurawasser Group employs around 900 people in Germany.

Eurawasser Aufbereitungs- und Entsorgungs GmbH, Berlin, which was originally founded as a joint venture between the Thyssen Group and Lyonnaise des Eaux in 1991, was previously owned by Suez Environnement.
