Lünen, Kraków, 02.06.2015. REMONDIS, a global recycling and water company, has acquired van Gansewinkel Polska Sp. z o.o. The acquisition agreement was signed at the beginning of June. van Gansewinkel Polska had previously been owned by the Dutch van Gansewinkel Group.
Under the terms of the agreement, Warsaw-based REMONDIS Sp. z o.o. is to take over all of the van Gansewinkel Group's recycling and public sector services in Poland. Generating an annual turnover of more than PLN 100 million, the company employs 320 people and runs three recycling plants. van Gansewinkel operates in the south of Poland where it has branches in Krakow, Ruda Slaska, Tarnow, Olawa and Legnica. REMONDIS is planning to invest in the company in order to strengthen and expand its business activities.
REMONDIS has been operating in Poland since 1992 where it has built up a network of companies and branches offering a wide range of recycling and water services in more than 40 towns and cities across the country. Each year, it handles around 1.5 million tonnes of recyclable and residual materials. Thanks to the acquisition of van Gansewinkel Polska, it will, above all, be able to extend its business activities in the Lower Silesian market. Torsten Weber, managing director of REMONDIS International, commented: "van Gansewinkel Polska's range of complementary services fits our portfolio perfectly. We can now strengthen our operations in the south of the country. Moreover, the company's regional focus on the south of Poland makes it an ideal addition and will help round off REMONDIS' presence in the country."
The transaction is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities.
