By using the sun's rays to dry sewage sludge, we are able to recover a valuable raw material and, at the same time, conserve natural resources

An ideal solution. Making the most of residual materials

All countries have to deal with the question of what to do with their sewage sludge. We develop cost-effective and environmentally friendly concepts for our partners so that their sewage sludge can be used for materials recycling or as a source of energy - for sewage sludge not only contains many pollutants, nutrients and organic substances, it has a high calorific value.

  • Efficient treatment of residual materials using solar energy

    • Using solar energy to dry sewage sludge considerably reduces the volume of material that needs to be recycled or disposed of. Depending on how dry the material is at the end of the process, it is possible to reduce its initial volume by up to 70%. A further advantage of using this method to treat residual materials: this drying process increases the calorific value of the sewage sludge to approximately that of brown coal making it a valuable source of energy. Compared to conventional drying technologies, which are often run on fossil fuels, the solar sewage sludge drying process uses the power of the sun and so helps conserve natural resources and cuts carbon emissions.

    • Treating residual materials on a grand scale: setting up special structures that allow the sun's rays to dry out sewage sludge is often the most sustainable and cost-effective solution - especially in rural areas
