Natural reserves of phosphorus are few and far between – all the more important, therefore, to recover this valuable raw material and return it to the natural cycle
One of our main goals is to conserve natural resources no matter what we are doing – from tapping into sources of water all the way through to treating wastewater. To be able to do this, therefore, REMONDIS Aqua develops integral material flow management concepts that take ecological and economic aspects into account. With raw materials becoming ever scarcer, these concepts help to cut costs and protect the environment. This comprises all logistics matters, documentation and the correct recycling of the residual materials generated by the treatment of industrial wastewater. Indeed, industrial wastewater often contains valuable materials. These should not be destroyed during the treatment of the water. From precious metals to phosphorus – many residual materials can be recovered in their purest form. We, therefore, build the necessary facilities, make the most of the energy contained in the substances and recover recyclables from the wastewater and return them to the economic cycle.
Sludge is a by-product of wastewater treatment and has a variety of potential uses. It can, for example, be used on farmland by agricultural businesses or thermally treated to generate energy. Being the market leaders, we manage material flows on behalf of our customers as an integral service.
