It is not always the best choice to connect private land and homes to the central sewage system. In rural areas in particular, the expense is often out of all proportion to the ecological benefits – especially since small modern sewage treatment plants now deliver extremely good results. The increasing level of technology in these small sewage treatment plants, however, has made it essential to build up a pool of relevant expertise and make it available to the public. This is not only because the installation requires qualified expertise; competent maintenance work must be carried out, too, to prevent water supplies being contaminated by faulty or poorly operated small sewage treatment plants. REMONDIS Aqua installs, operates and maintains small high-tech sewage treatment plants for sewage customers living in remote areas. We set up highly efficient membrane filter plants in all sizes from 4 to 500 population equivalents. The treated water is free of particulate matter and can therefore be used again without restrictions.

 

 

 

Inspection and renovation of property drainage facilities
Wastewater pipes on private property across the country must have been checked to see if they are leak-proof by 31.12.2015. In the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, moreover, the fact that property owners are obliged to renovate any damaged drainage facilities on their land has been written into the State Water Act (Landeswassergesetz). Other German federal states will follow this example for the majority of private drains and sewers, which are twice as numerous as public ones, are in an alarming condition. REMONDIS Aqua provides private property owners, housing associations and local authorities with independent advice about suppliers and products:

• We document the whole of the project and ensure the necessary guarantees are in place

By having their property drainage systems inspected and repaired, private individuals can keep their costs down as having their system renovated in time is much cheaper than having it replaced completely in the event of a total breakdown.
