Lausitz – a comprehensive solution for a structurally weak region.
The project
The Wasserverband Lausitz water board encompasses 25 towns and other local authorities in the region. The water board’s area is correspondingly large, covering 800 square kilometres. The constant optimisation of drinking water supply and sewage treatment is of crucial significance for the board.
The cooperation
In January 2006, Wasserverband Lausitz assigned the commercial and technical management of its plants and facilities to REMONDIS Aqua. The range of tasks also includes project management, planning, construction management and documentation for all water-related facilities. In Senftenberg, where the board is based, Wasserverband Lausitz Betriebsführungs GmbH, the fully-owned subsidiary of REMONDIS Aqua, founded a centre of expertise for the water industry.
The most important benefits
Efficient operations management has resulted in significant savings for Wasserverband Lausitz. The agreed fixed prices not only mean that citizens are guaranteed high quality drinking water and sewage treatment but also that the charges remain stable, despite the fact that the region is marked by pronounced demographic change. The low-sodium, naturally germ-free water in the region is treated with state-of-the-art technology. The customers are mainly neighbouring public service providers in Brandenburg and Saxony.
