Gemünden am Main – with a new sewage treatment plant.
The project
When the Lower Franconian town of Gemünden am Main, with 13 districts in all, issued its tender, it was not only looking for a partner for the technical operation of its drain and sewer networks and sewage plants. A further crucial factor was the construction of a new sewage treatment plant so that the municipality could gradually replace its existing facilities.
The cooperation
We have been responsible for the drain and sewage system and the sewage treatment plants on behalf of the municipal enterprise, Stadtwerke Gemünden am Main AöR, since 2005. One of the most important services we have provided within the scope of our partnership was managing the investments for the new central sewage treatment plant which was constructed in 2005/2006. Furthermore, our client is able to use REMONDIS Aqua’s geographical information system to manage and plan its activities in the areas of energy, drinking water, sewage and roads.
The most important benefits
By involving REMONDIS Aqua, the municipal enterprise is tapping into our comprehensive experience in the realisation of state-of-the-art facilities. By providing professional project management, we have ensured that the new sewage treatment plant was erected 40 % more cheaply than planned and has higher quality standards. At the same time, we were able to reduce construction time by six months.
Facts and figures
- Length of sewer network: 115 km
- Capacity of the sewage treatment plant 19,000 population equivalents
- Group of facilities: central sewage treatment plant and numerous rainwater treatment facilities
