The project
In addition to many other duties, the range of tasks carried out by Frechen GmbH primarily comprises the maintenance and management of the city’s drains and sewers. The main services here are the cleaning of street sewers and their shafts with gullies, and also the monitoring and maintenance of open waters and various special structures.
 

 

 

The cooperation
In 2004, the city of Frechen looked for a private partner by putting out a Europe-wide invitation to tender. The partner chosen was REMONDIS. The two partners set up Stadtbetrieb Frechen GmbH, of which the city holds 51 % and REMONDIS 49 %.
 

 

 

The most important benefits
Frechen’s public private partnership safeguards cost-effective supply and disposal services. The public sector is given lasting financial relief, while the citizens benefit from permanently stable charges.
