Wild Valencia, Carcaixent, Spain – sugar-free thanks to modern process technology.
The project
Wild Valencia is a subsidiary of Eppelheim-based Rudolf Wild GmbH & Co. KG, which is well-known thanks to its successful soft drink Capri-Sun. With the business at the plant in Carcaixent, Spain, developing rapidly, the company decided its existing wastewater treatment facility had to be expanded. REMONDIS Aqua built a new facility and is now responsible for its operations management.
The procedure
The wastewater, which has high sugar content, undergoes anaerobic and thus energy-saving preliminary treatment. The primary task here is to remove the organic contents. The energy stored in the wastewater can be recovered and used as biogas. The biogas directly benefits production as it is used to substitute municipal gas requirements.
The benefits at a glance
- Safe and efficient treatment
- Biogas generation using special processes
- Energy returned to the production cycle
The plant in Carcaixent, Spain – in the orange-growing region of Valencia – produces a variety of fruit juice concentrates, as well as extracts for the food and drinks industries.
